Le Maison du René Magritte

One light, one large leafy tree.
What one couple loves in window
lit with color of somber fire?
Out front sits the house walking on water,
upstairs aflame, fire on water.

Subtle with softest twilight palette,
waning sky of blue hue holds clouds –
pure white – painted above the night.
One lamp lights the very center, the heart.
Then it’s him and her up the stairs
in the burning-amber room mimicking the art.
Bowler-hat-wearing-lover lies
in fiery passion of artist’s imagination
and knows not whether it day or night
while coloring vast canvas of his creation.
